Richmond International Raceway, a D shape oval ¾ mile paved track is located in Henrico County of Virginia just outside of Richmond. This track first started out as a half-mile track and hosted dirt auto races until it was paved 1968. It is known as Americas Premier Short Track and is one of the few tracks to hold a race under the lights.

Richmond has been host to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series. It also is host to Indy Racing League Indy Car Series, and the United States Auto Club Silver Crown. This track holds the final race leading up to the start of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
