Indianapolis 500 is all that needs to be mentioned and any fan
from novice to die hard will know what you are talking about. This
race is the main racing event held at the track every year around
Memorial Day. This track is the second oldest racing track in
history. The first race ever held here was not completed and cut
short due to horrible track conditions. There were only 5 laps
completed that day with the winner being Louis Schwitzer. The
Indianapolis 500 holds many events leading up to the race which are
deep in tradition. This year we bid farewell to Lou Palmer, the
legendary voice that was heard over the IMS Radio Network for over
30 years . May his legend live on and the thrill of Indy racing
that his felt here every May.
