Daytona International Speedway Facts:

  • Location: 1801 W. International Speedway Blvd. Daytona Beach, Florida
  • Track Length: 2.5-mile trioval
  • Seating Capacity: 168,000 NASCAR Fans

Daytona International Speedway even if you are not a NASCAR fan, you know the name. This is one of the greatest speedways ever built. It was built in the year 1956 and opened in 1959. The most important start of the NASCAR season starts with speedweek. The race week begins with the Budweiser Shootout and the Gatorade Duel. The Craftsman Truck Series begins with the Camping World 300 and finally The Great American Race.

Daytona Beach racing all started back in the early 1900's with Ransom Olds and Alexander Winston. The race was held on nearby Ormond Beach. The first official race was held by The American Automobile Association sponsored by the Ormond Hotel, this was named The Winter Carnival. This race lasted an entire week and was a mind blowing speed of 68.198 miles per hour.

On your visit for speedweek do not miss the exciting Daytona 500 experience. This attraction has something for everyone from diehard fans to casual fans. Here you can drive around the track with the Richard Petty experience, take a tour of the speedway and enjoy many more activities to accelerate your passion for speed.
