The Rugby World Cup Sevens Tournament is the world's premier international
contest in the Sevens version of Rugby (union), The Tournament was first held in
Scotland in 1993 and subsequently now is held every four years. The prize is the
Melrose Cup, named after the Scottish town of Melrose where the first Sevens
game was played. The tournament will consist of 24 Men's Rugby Teams and the
first to incorporate a Women's competition consisting of 16 teams.

Guaranteed official match tickets for all three days of the Rugby World Cup
Sevens 2009 are included in the travel cost. Category 1 Reserved seats are
positioned alongside the pitch in the Airbus Stand.
Nine Men's Rugby Unions have qualified directly for the men's Tournament (the
eight quarter-finalists from 2005; Fiji, New Zealand, England, Australia,
France, Scotland, Argentina and South Africa and the Host Union, the Arabian
Gulf). Another 15 places in the Rugby World Cup Sevens Tournament have been
reserved for other qualifiers...Three qualifiers will come from Africa, two from
North America, one from South America, two from Asia, five from Europe and two
from Oceania. This will guarantee the presence of some teams not regularly seen
on the IRB Sevens World Series circuit.

- Dubai's new venue for Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009. The
new Venue will include a 10,000 seat grandstand and a second pitch enclosed
on three sides by a grass embankment enabling a crowd of 15,000 to enjoy the
sporting action. The remaining four rugby pitches will be located close to a two
story 80 meter-long clubhouse and promenade with food outlets and cafes.
