Summer Games Venues of Beijing

Beijing National Stadium

The centerpiece of the 2008 Summer Games is the construction of the Beijing National Stadium, which began on December 23, 2003. The National Stadium will feature lattice-like concrete skeleton forming the stadium bowl, which will seat 80,000 people. The Beijing National Stadium will be the site of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies as well as track and field events and football finals.

It is important to note that some venues are not in the city center. The venues include Qingdao Interantional Marina (sailing); Hong Kong Equestrian Venue (equestrian); Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium (football/soccer); Shanghai Stadium (football/soccer); Shenyang Olympic Sports Center Stadium (football/soccer); Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center Stadium (football/soccer).
