  • Pocono raceway is set in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. It is unique being that this track is not owned by Speedway Motorsports Inc, or International Speedway Corporation. Outside of NASCAR they run racing schools, sports and motorcycle clubs. The first NASCAR race was held in 1974 and was a success. After this race there were economic hardships from Hurricane Agnes. The race track was almost shut down until Bill France gave the owners of the track some great advice and had them stick it out. In 1982 they received there second NASCAR race and the track and people have started to grow. The track welcomes 100,000 fans twice each year.
