  • September 19-21, 2008 NASCAR Race weekend. The chase for the cup comes to the Monster Mile for a tripleheader weekend for the second weekend in the attempt to win the cup. Dover will celebrate it?s 40 years in 2008.

The race track was built starting in 1966 and opened for business in 1969. Dover Downs International speedway was the tracks original name until it was changed to Dover International Speedway in February 2002. It obtains its name the Monster Mile because it is only a mile long and its surface is concrete which makes it harder on cars.

The Monster Mile has a bridge which over looks the race track and special seating for major sponsors. These seats are special not only because of the great view but the winner of the race is required to sign the seat that corresponds to the number of the race car.
