The stats are getting better for the people of Beijing.
The 2007 results of the Renmin University's Civic Index show that
spitting in public is down to only 2.5 % of the population from
4.9% in 2006. Are these people just walking around in Saliva
or what? Or is it so hot, that the spit evaporates and fills
the air with that fresh minty taste of Colgate?
Some other great news involves queue jumping stats coming
down. Only 1.5% of the population admitted to skipping lines
in 2007 which is down from 6% they year before. I don't
think these people want to be jumping in line in front of this
Texan...during my stay in Paris for the Rugby World Cup in 2007, I
found out that the French are also notoriously known for skipping
queues, hence one of the reasons I will not be vacationing in Paris
anytme soon.
And last, but not least, littering fell to 2.9% in 2007 from
5.3% in '06. Good to know that Beijing is on it's way to
becoming a great place to visit during the 2008 Summer
Olympics.
