The unpredictable 2010 NFL season continues as both #1
seeds Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots fell in this past
weekends Divisional Round games while both #2 seeds the Chicago
Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers revenge home losses from earlier in
the year. The upcoming Conference Championships this Sunday
are setup to be a quite exciting last step towards Super Bowl 45 in
Dallas. After surprisingly beating their archrival New England
Patriots, the 6th seed New York Jets take their circus act to
Pittsburgh where they will try to beat the #2 Steelers for only the
2nd time ever away from New York/New Jersey. The first victory
for the Jets in Pittsburgh came earlier this year in a
thriller, while the Steelers are trying to reach the Super
Bowl for the second time in 3 years. The NFC Championship features
the NFL's oldest Rivalry - #2 Chicago Bears vs #5 Green Bay
Packers. After 182 meetings, this will be the second time that the
teams met in the playoffs, only this time a trip to the Super Bowl
is on the line. The teams met at Soldier Field in the last regular
season game of the year while the Bears were the only top team
to play all starters as they tried to hand the Packers a last
week defeat, eliminating them from the playoffs, however failed,
losing to the Packers 10-3.

For a team that has one of the league's most historic past and
largest group of fans, the
Washington Redskins are simply not being talked about as the
2008 NFL season draws nearer. Especially for a team that had an
impressive winning streak at the end of last year to make it
to the playoffs as one of the more dangerous teams in the NFC
before being eliminated by the Seahawks. After 2 impressive
preseason games and even with a new coach the Redskins seem to not
have lost a step, but rather gained two steps while nobody is
noticing as Farve, the Cowboys, and Giants steal all the attention.
I for one think that is awesome and am having a difficult time from
getting too excited for a team that has made the playoffs three
times since their Super Bowl XXVI victory. Sure it is only
preseason but you can just tell that this team is different. There
is a whole different kind of vibe noticed while watching them
during training camp or a preseason game. Fortunately I am
apparently not the only one who has noticed.

prices got you down? Great Atlantic Travel offers Roundtrip
Same Day transportation from Norfolk and Newport News to the race
in Richmond with the purchase of their very reasonable travel
package which includes a race ticket and Motor-coach
transportation. Every year, hundreds of local NASCAR
fans, make the 90 mile trip with Great Atlantic Travel, via their
Day Trip Packages as well as the Overnight Motor-coach travel
packages. From local Church organizations, to Die-Hard NASCAR
fanatics, the Richmond NASCAR packages offered by Great Atlantic
Travel have been a hit since the early 80's.
"We've seen a noticeable increase in bookings for our
Motor-coach package sales both online and via our travel office"
says Michelle Yeager, President of Great Atlantic Travel. "In
the past couple of years, most fans purchased only the tickets from
us and drove themselves to the race...but now with gas prices
soaring, everyone is ready to ride along in our Motor-coaches
booking the Day Trip Package. Last year, we sent 7 Motor
Coaches up to Richmond...this year we're on track to send 10 or
more."
For the first time in many years, Richmond Motor Speedway is not
sold out of tickets yet...you can still purchase tickets to the
Sprint Cup race for $80-$95. But Great Atlantic Travel still
has tickets left as well, and in order to get out of inventory, the
company is taking a hit on the ticket cost, and selling them for
only $75, cheaper than the $90 face value printed on the
ticket.

So the drama is finally over...Great! I'm tired of reading
about the old man on every sports related newspaper, not to
mention, he's the only topic of conversation on Sports Center these
days. He's dominated every other interesting aspect of
Sports Coverage for the past 2 weeks. Now, we can finally
move on to more interesting sports subjects such as the Beijing
Olympics in China, and the Dallas Cowboys premiere of HBO's Hard
Knocks last night (Dam, they look good!)
So, Brett, like other greats whom have done the same before you,
Emmitt Smith and Joe Montana, I think you're doomed to
fail. The good news, other than New England and maybe
Seattle, you have a patsy schedule. You should be able
to roll over teams like Cincy, Oakland, KC, Buffalo and San
Fran. I don't see the Jets losing more than 4-5 games this
year, so you'll be back in the Playoffs for sure. The
Question: Can your old body take it? In New York? Sure
is a big change from Mississippi and Wisconsin.
Good Luck FAV-RE!
